Why ROHP / RNCP QUALIFYING PROGRAM
- Completion of the entire program qualifies you to obtain the Registered Nutritional Consulting Practitioner (RNCP) and Registered Orthomolecular Health Practitioner (ROHP) designation(s), from the International Organization of Nutritional Consultants (IONC www.ionc.org). Upon joining the IONC, you will qualify for an official RNCP/ROHP registration number, which is honored by various employee group plans for reimbursement of nutritional counseling services.
- The program is a series of video lectures (approved by the IONC) that also includes a complete set of digital course notes, and all powerpoint slides (in pdf format). Additional textbook reading is also required. Online exams are required throughout the program, along with several assignments to meet the IONC requirements.
- The IONC is presently in negotiations with the government to form a Registry of all RNCP/ROHP practitioners with a medium-range goal of becoming a full-fledged Regulated Profession. This is approximately where Naturopaths were in their emergence 15-20 years ago. This program enables regulated health professionals to acquire recognized status in the field of nutritional and lifestyle medicine and sports nutrition; areas of great importance to patient health, healing and healthy life expectancy.
- Completion of the program also earns you two certificates of completion from the Global Integrative Medicine Academy, which include:
- 1. Advanced Nutritional Medicine – certificate of completion

In order to complete the program in Advanced Nutritional Medicine and Sports Nutrition Specialist there are two final assignments that must be completed. Part 1 Assignment The Part 1 Final Assignment involves answering multiple choice questions from assigned reading materials from the textbook “Krause’s Food and Nutrition Care Process – 13th Edition”. These reading assignments cover topics that were not presented in the formal power point lecture series in this program and address the following important subject matter:
- Minerals
- Nutrition in Pregnancy and Lactation
- Nutrition in Infancy
- Genetically-inherited diseases of metabolism affecting carbohydrates, lipid and amino acids (questions require independent research)
Part 2 Assignment The Part 2 assignment involves completing a series of patient/client nutrition and lifestyle assessments and providing customized nutrition and lifestyle recommendations for each case. This assignment demonstrates your proficiency in evaluating the patient’s health status, and using your best evidence-based judgement to construct a customized nutrition and lifestyle plan to enhance the patient/client’s health and improve their chances of achieving their intended goals as well as a more optimal healthy life expectancy. I have included some basic patient intake forms and forms that can be used by the health practitioner to record the Case History, Anthropometric exam findings, and Dietary and Lifestyle Recommendations, which can help simplify the process. It is mandatory that at least in one case some basic blood work interpretation be included in the assessment and target blood values be identified as part of the intended outcomes pertaining to the nutrition and lifestyle program recommended to the patient/client. For the sake of anonymity and privacy protection the patient/client’s name and address must be whited out or blotted out or made to be illegible, prior to submitting these forms. In each case your nutrition and lifestyle recommendations should include the following subheadings:
- Dietary Recommendations (with brief justification)
- Supplement Recommendations (with brief justification)
- Exercise Recommendations (with brief justification)
- Recommended Further Tests or Referrals (if appropriate, and brief justification)
- Other Recommendations – if appropriate (i.e. meditation, sleep hygiene etc., with brief justification)
- Intended Follow-up (explanation of your intended patient/client follow-up and monitoring, based on their specific health status, health goals and objective findings from physical exam and lab tests)
Note: All Case Studies are to be submitted online to the Global Integrative Medicine Academy. We suggest that you print the provided intake and practitioner forms. Have your patients/clients complete the intake forms and the health practitioner completes the health practitioner forms. Once all your case studies are completed they are to be scanned and uploaded to the Global Integrative Medicine Academy to be evaluated. Program Completion, Certificates and Designation Application Once you have completed the Part 1 and Part 2 Assignments in Section 22 (and received a passing grade on both) you will be notified, upon which you will receive two signed certificates of completion, with your name and date on them, from the Global Integrative Medicine Academy: 1.
